The painting on this page is one of my first explorations with alcohol ink creations in a little lesson with my dear friend Lynda Norman of Ban Draoi Studio

As I said in my summary of my professional side this creative side of me went unrecognized for some time and was screaming to be heard. At first it was a whisper that kept saying "there must be more to life" and was a general discomfort. As I ignored it it became louder and eventually as I mentioned became a full blown chronic depression diagnosis that forced me to stop life dead in it's tracks. I could no longer live this way, this free spirit wanted out of the cage and she wasn't going to take it any more. She is a complete rebel and really dislikes rules and boxes and especially cages.
I had to slow down, focus on healing and taking better care of myself first to create a space where I could feel something different and actually begin to listen. That evolution eventually brought me into a practice I now refer to as "Soul Setting" instead of "Goal Setting". This practice turned down the volume of the "shoulds" and "supposed to" voices and turned up the volume of a dusty old guitar that I had stuffed in the closet. That guitar would turn out to be the key to unlocking everything and bring me into alignment with the Creative Soul that I truly am. Being a CREATIVE SOUL means that you are constantly in a state of creating, ideas flowing, evolving at every turn with new projects and new adventures to explore. It takes you down many roads and you just never quite know what beautiful path will open up next. It's kind of like actors, who become authors, directors, and have clothing lines or maybe even sing in a band. Creatives are Creatives, we seriously can't help ourselves. The primary focus on this site is about music, my love of it, desire to create it and to create spaces for people to make it, listen to it and experience the connect that it offers. With Covid protocols completely obliterating live music I needed first to grieve the loss of everything I love and then begin to find ways to evolve under new conditions. At present I am exploring my creativity through my YouTube Channel which contains some old footage of performances and songs I have written as well as a weekly Vlog I am using to practice speaking on camera and learning video editing concepts. The big reveal of its direction is yet to come, I would love it if you would come along for the ride. |
